French teenager arrested over alleged plot to kidnap Kylian Mbappe
A French teenager identified as Clement L. has been arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap Kylian Mbappe, captain of the French national football team. The suspect is accused of orchestrating this scheme following Mbappe’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports from Le Parisien indicate that Clement L. faces multiple charges in connection with a series of criminal activities, including kidnapping plots, that occurred between April 11 and August 19 in various locations including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, and Santenay.
Among the reported targets is the 27-year-old Mbappe, who resides in a Paris home during his visits to France. However, the alleged conspiracy reportedly extended beyond Mbappe, with the group naming at least 26 individuals—including businesspeople and rappers—as potential targets for home invasions and kidnappings.
Clement L., 18 years old, is currently incarcerated at Villepinte prison in the Seine-Saint-Denis department, where he faces additional charges including pimping and armed robbery. Authorities allege that he utilized Snapchat to coordinate criminal activities even while incarcerated. A list of potential targets was reportedly found on devices seized from his prison cell.
The suspect, who is also known by the alias Lester Z, has since been placed in solitary confinement and is in pretrial detention after being charged on August 21 in Nanterre.
Despite the developments regarding the alleged kidnapping plot, Mbappe has remained active with Real Madrid.
