Sokoto: Five killed, three injured in Kebbi bandit attack


SOKOTO, Nigeria — The Sokoto State Police Command reported that five individuals were killed and three others injured during a bandit attack in the Kebbe Local Government Area on Thursday evening. The assault primarily impacted Girkau community and surrounding areas within Girkau Ward, with local residents also noting incidents of abduction and cattle rustling.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rufai confirmed the details of the attack in a phone interview with journalists on Friday. “Five persons were killed, three others were injured, while unspecified animals were rustled in the attack,” he stated.

The police command is currently gathering additional information regarding the incident, including the possibility of further abductions. “We are still collecting details regarding the number of people who may have been abducted. Further updates will be provided as they become available,” Rufai added.

He assured the community that law enforcement and security agencies remain dedicated to safeguarding residents’ lives and property. “The police and other security agencies maintain a commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people. We will continue to respond to security threats and work closely with communities to ensure their safety,” he said.
