Troops discover three decomposing bodies of terrorists in Borno

Members of the 101 Special Forces Battalion have uncovered three decomposing bodies believed to be terrorists who were injured and subsequently died while fleeing a thwarted attack in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources reported that the bodies were found around 9:30 a.m. on September 3, 2026, during an operation conducted northeast of Kukawa along the Jemmù-Alagarno axis. The discovery followed an attempted terrorist assault on the battalion that occurred on August 28 in Cross Kauwa.
The sources indicated that the terrorists suffered injuries during the failed attack and perished while retreating. “Troops discovered the three decomposing bodies during the exploitation of the area,” stated one source.
The operation aimed to trace the terrorists’ withdrawal routes as well as to recover weapons and equipment that had been abandoned during the assault. Among the items retrieved were a damaged AK-47 rifle, a solar panel, a camouflage bag, a prayer mat, an empty PKT ammunition belt, and a raincoat.
The remains of the three individuals were buried on-site.
