IED explodes under military vehicle during patrol in Imo

An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated beneath a military vehicle during a routine patrol in the Ihite Ukwa–Health Centre area of Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State.
Security sources confirmed the incident to expert Zagazola Makama on Saturday, stating that the explosion occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. on September 4, 2026. Troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade reportedly triggered the device while conducting their patrol.
The blast caused damage to the front-right fender of a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the explosion.
According to Makama, military operations in the area remain ongoing, with efforts being made to enhance security and prevent future attacks along the route.
