11-year-old twins, younger sister found dead on Ondo farm
A family in Akure, Ondo State, is mourning the tragic loss of three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, who were found dead near a riverbank on their father’s farm close to the Owena Army Barracks.
The deceased have been identified as Joshua Jonah and his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, both 11, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah. The children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.
According to reports, the children left the farm later that day to return home. Samuel Jonah discovered their absence upon his own return and initiated a search for them.
The search concluded tragically on Saturday when their bodies were located near the riverbank on the farm.
The family’s loss has been profound, compounded by the death of three siblings in a single incident. Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the case and stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths is ongoing.
Abayomi noted that the bodies have been released to their father for burial while police continue to gather information regarding the incident. “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on September 4, 2026,” he said. “The victims reportedly accompanied their father to the farm, but they were later reported missing when he returned home.”
