Ogun police deploy protection squad as schools resume
As schools in Ogun State prepare to resume academic activities on Monday, the State Police Command has announced the deployment of its School Protection Squad throughout the region.
This deployment is designed to enhance police visibility around educational institutions, safeguard students, teachers, and infrastructure, and ensure quick responses to any security threats.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni made this announcement during a meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the Safe School Club, headed by State Chairman Abdullahi Lawal, at the Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Ojajuni explained that the initiative aligns with the proactive and community-focused policing agenda set by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu. He emphasized the squad’s mission to remain vigilant, actively engage with school communities, and respond quickly to credible security information.
The commissioner urged school proprietors, administrators, teachers, parents, and students to be alert and report any suspicious activities near schools. “See something, say something. Do not ignore suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities around any school. Early information can prevent an incident,” he stated.
Residents are encouraged to report any school-related emergencies using the Gateway Shield Emergency Line. Ojajuni assured that the squad, in collaboration with the PCRC and other stakeholders, is fully prepared to protect schools and mitigate potential threats across the state.
