‘No way’ – APC rejects Sen Fadahunsi recall bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially dismissed the ongoing effort to recall Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

In a statement released Friday by Akinyele Akintola, the APC’s Director of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for the Ijesa South Federal Constituency, party officials indicated that the recall campaign does not reflect the views of genuine APC members or the constituents of the area. The statement emphasized that those advocating for the recall are acting against the party’s interests and the development of the senatorial district.

The APC expressed its support for Fadahunsi, asserting that his continued representation would be advantageous for the Osun East constituency.

In contrast, a protest organized by local youths and concerned residents in Ilesa voiced grievances over alleged inflammatory remarks made by Fadahunsi prior to the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun.

The Ijesa region comprises six local government areas: Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West. Akintola condemned the protest and the call for Fadahunsi’s recall as politically motivated and urged political stakeholders in Osun East to refrain from actions that could further exacerbate tensions within the district.
