Bamanga Tukur: Nigeria has lost a statesman — Adebayo
Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), expressed his condolences on Saturday following the death of former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. Tukur passed away after a brief illness.
In a condolence message, Adebayo described Tukur as a distinguished statesman, administrator, and businessman whose contributions to Nigeria and Africa will be remembered in the nation’s history. He acknowledged Tukur’s decades-long dedication to public service, leadership, and politics, highlighting his influence in business development and national governance.
“I had the privilege of working with this true and illustrious Nigerian statesman through my investments in his beloved state of Adamawa, particularly in the promotion of indigenous shipping and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) under his leadership,” Adebayo stated.
The SDP candidate extended his sympathies to Tukur’s family, the Adamawa State government, and all those mourning his loss. He characterized Tukur as an experienced leader whose achievements left a significant impact on the country.
Adebayo expressed hope that Tukur’s legacy would inspire current and future generations to commit themselves to the service of humanity and the development of Nigeria. He also offered prayers for strength and comfort for Tukur’s family during this difficult time and wished for his eternal rest.
Reports indicate that Tukur was 90 years old at the time of his passing.
