2027: I’m still in APC but I’ll support party my people want — Na’Allah
Former Deputy Senate Majority Leader Bala Na’Allah affirmed his membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC) but expressed his willingness to support his constituents’ preferred political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Na’Allah made the statement during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Monday. He had previously withdrawn from the APC senatorial primary in May, citing concerns that the results were predetermined.
When asked if he would continue to back the ruling party in the upcoming elections, Na’Allah emphasized his commitment to the democratic process and the preferences of his constituents. “As a Democrat, I believe in what my people want,” he said. “Democracy is about ensuring that more than half the people are right more than half the time.”
He clarified, “Let me be very honest with you. I’m APC. If for whatever reason my people believe that APC is not the party they want, my qualification in politics does not take me to a position where I will ask people to do what they don’t want to do.”
Na’Allah also stated that he is open to evaluating the political landscape as the election approaches, indicating a willingness to consider shifting dynamics. “We are learning every day; we will see those who have that capacity,” he added.
Originally, Na’Allah had intended to participate in the APC senatorial primary as part of his plan to return to the Senate, but he withdrew from the contest due to his concerns about the electoral process.
