Security operatives arrest three suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in Edo
A joint operation involving the Edo State Police Command, local hunters, and other security agencies has resulted in the apprehension of three suspects linked to a kidnapping incident in Edo State.
Authorities reported the successful rescue of three victims, while one individual remains captive. The public relations officer for the police command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the details during a press briefing in Benin City. The victims were reportedly abducted by armed assailants in Ekpoma, located in the Esan West Local Government Area, and were taken into Illeh forest.
Ikoedem identified the rescued victims as Olaefe Ehimen, Taiye Ibrahim, and Mrs. Ehimen. She noted that the kidnappers had already reached out to the families of the victims to demand ransom prior to their rescue.
“The police received a distress call regarding the kidnapping and quickly mobilized resources, along with local hunters and other security personnel, to conduct a search in Illeh forest, leading to the successful rescue of the victims,” Ikoedem explained.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three individuals believed to be involved in the kidnapping. Ikoedem emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional members of the criminal syndicate.
