Joseph Yobo Anticipates Alex Iwobi’s Future Success with the National Team
Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has expressed confidence that midfielder Alex Iwobi will surpass 130 appearances for Nigeria’s national team. Iwobi recently became only the fourth Nigerian player to reach the milestone of 100 caps.
The Fulham playmaker achieved this notable number during an international friendly against Portugal in June, joining the ranks of Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, and Ahmed Musa as Nigeria’s centurions. Currently, Musa holds the record for the most appearances, with 110 caps.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alex getting to 130 or even more because he’s still very active,” Yobo told ESPN. He emphasized Iwobi’s ongoing performance at a high level and noted the importance of avoiding injuries, which can impact a player’s career.
