Three Suspected Motorcycle-Snatching Syndicate Members Arrested in Adamawa State
Guyuk, Adamawa – The Adamawa State Police Command announced on Sunday the apprehension of three individuals suspected to be part of a motorcycle-snatching syndicate that has been operating in the Guyuk area of southern Adamawa State.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Saleh, Suleiman Mohammadu, and Ahmadu Damina, are reportedly residents of Shani, a local government area in neighboring Borno State.
According to a statement from police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrests occurred on September 26, 2026, following an attack on a motorcycle rider named Mr. Abdu Buba in Bobini Village. The suspects allegedly inflicted injuries on Buba before stealing his motorcycle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to be involved in a broader syndicate that targets individuals for motorcycle theft and other robberies.
The police report noted that a large crowd gathered at the scene of the arrest and attempted to lynch the suspects. However, police operatives and local hunters intervened to ensure the suspects’ safety.
Authorities transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment. Additionally, police recovered a motorcycle, cutlasses, a flashlight, and other items believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.
The investigation into the syndicate’s activities is ongoing.
