Tinubu came to my aid when bandits almost overran Bauchi – Gov Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude Monday for the support provided by President Bola Tinubu in addressing security challenges in the region, particularly the threat posed by banditry.

During a press briefing in Bauchi, the state capital, Mohammed noted that despite being a member of the opposition, he reached out to Tinubu for assistance, which was promptly delivered. The president deployed a significant military contingent, coordinated by the National Security Adviser along with various security agencies, to combat the rising insecurity in the state.

“I want to affirm our gratitude to President Tinubu, especially regarding security initiatives,” Mohammed stated. “He has established two battalions, one in Alkaleri and another in Tafawa Balewa.”

Mohammed highlighted that his state was on the verge of being overwhelmed by bandits before receiving assistance. “The people of Bauchi are very proud of him. When we were almost overrun, nobody was coming to our aid. I approached him, and he responded despite my opposition party affiliation.”

He also remarked on the positive impact of the military presence, stating, “They successfully displaced over 100,000 individuals who were threatening our peace. Now, those who were displaced have returned, and we are looking forward to this farming season. We will never forget the goodwill he has shown us.”
