Super Eagles Defender Reflects on Experience with José Mourinho
Bright Osayi-Samuel, a defender for Nigeria’s national football team, shared insights into his time working with renowned coach José Mourinho during his tenure at Fenerbahçe.
Osayi-Samuel noted that Mourinho provided constructive feedback on his strengths and areas needing improvement. He recalled his first day of training, which began on a challenging note.
“I arrived late because I had a national team game,” Osayi-Samuel recounted in an interview with Oma Sports. “The first thing he said to me was, ‘You are a good player, but you need to run more.’”
Osayi-Samuel acknowledged Mourinho’s direct and demanding coaching style, stating, “That just shows what type of guy he is. He can be ruthless when things go wrong.”
