Petrol price discount: Apologise to Nigerians – Timi Frank tells Tinubu

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue an apology to Nigerians following a proposal to implement a 30-day discounted petrol price at filling stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

In a statement released on Friday, Frank expressed his concerns regarding the temporary measure, which he argues highlights inconsistencies in the government’s stance on petrol subsidy.

“The Tinubu administration needs to apologize to Atiku Abubakar for previous attacks on his position advocating for the reinstatement of fuel subsidy during his presidential campaign,” Frank stated. “Additionally, President Tinubu should extend an apology to the Nigerian populace, as the repercussions of rising fuel prices have significantly impacted their daily lives.”

Currently, petrol prices in Abuja and surrounding areas range from N1,370 to N1,400 per litre. The Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, recently proposed a fixed petrol price of N1,350 per litre at NNPCL filling stations for the next month.
