Kaduna State Police Arrest 12 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Weapons

KADUNA — The Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and the recovery of firearms as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.

In a statement released on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan reported that a series of joint security operations were conducted in Millennium City, Maraban Rido, and adjacent areas. These operations led to the apprehension of eight suspected kidnappers, identified as Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John, and Tafarki Audu.

Additionally, four individuals believed to be informants—Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses, and Amadu Mathew—were also detained during the operations. Authorities recovered several AK-47 rifles from the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects allegedly admitted to providing sensitive information about police activities to criminal groups, compromising security protocols and endangering both law enforcement personnel and local residents.

In light of the ongoing security challenges in Millennium City and surrounding areas, the Kaduna State Government has dispatched three additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to enhance the police’s operational capacity.

The Kaduna State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to ongoing clearance operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, disrupting their activities, and facilitating the rescue of kidnapping victims. To further bolster security measures, Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu has ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles, and resources to the affected regions.

Rabiu encouraged the public to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to cooperate with security forces by providing timely and reliable information to aid efforts against kidnapping and other criminal activities.
