CAF President Motsepe insists Morocco will host WAFCON 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially designated Morocco as the host nation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Speculation regarding Morocco’s potential withdrawal from hosting the tournament arose recently, with South Africa positioned as a possible alternative host. However, CAF President Patrice Motsepe dismissed these rumors during a press conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Friday.

Motsepe also reaffirmed that the tournament dates remain steady, with the competition scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026. Morocco previously hosted the last two editions of WAFCON.

The upcoming tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists earning spots in Brazil.
