Elder Statesman Supports Presidential Bid of Bola Tinubu in 2027
Abuja — Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a prominent elder statesman, expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday.
Yakasai, born in 1925, addressed attendees at the event in Abuja, where he reflected on the significance of reuniting with old friends and political allies. He extended his best wishes to President Tinubu, highlighting the importance of the upcoming election.
“I would also like to convey my best wishes to Mr. President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and wish him success in the coming election,” Yakasai stated. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the gathering, thanking God for his longevity and the APC leadership for their recognition.
Acknowledging his age, Yakasai remarked, “I don’t have anybody that I can call my age-mate among you here.” He concluded his address with well-wishes for the attendees and a prayer for divine blessings.
In a separate address at the same event, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke voiced confidence in Tinubu’s campaign for re-election. Recently aligning with the APC, Adeleke stated he feels victory is imminent for the president and declared his readiness to lead the campaign effort.
Promising a vibrant campaign characterized by celebration, Adeleke suggested that Tinubu’s supporters would joyfully return to Aso Rock. He urged Nigerians to provide the president with more time for his reforms to take effect, acknowledging the challenges associated with the policies.
“I want action, not too much talk,” Adeleke said, indicating that he has already begun preparations on his end for the campaign.
