We aren’t sure if Nigeria’s Ebola case came from Uganda – Africa CDC

Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), stated that the origin of Nigeria’s recent Ebola case remains uncertain.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Thursday, Kaseya indicated that while the patient hails from Uganda, there is no confirmation that she contracted the virus there.
“What we know is that the lady came from Uganda, but we don’t know whether she was infected in Kampala or elsewhere. Once we have more answers, I will return to Uganda for further discussions,” he said.
The patient, who was born in Nigeria, resides in Abuja and arrived in the Federal Capital Territory with her husband on October 3 after spending several days in Uganda.
Earlier, Uganda’s Ministry of Health reported that the patient is a Nigerian national who traveled to eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo for business and transited through Uganda. They emphasized that travel through Uganda does not automatically indicate where the infection occurred.
Nigeria confirmed the Ebola case on Tuesday.
