Jubilating over people’s afflictions diabolical – Kemi Afolabi fumes amid battle with lupus

Nigerian actress Kemi Afolabi has denounced the practice of celebrating the misfortunes or deaths of others, labeling such behavior as diabolical.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Afolabi emphasized the inevitability of death, highlighting the importance of empathy in the face of others’ suffering. “We all are going to bite the dust. Your jubilation over another’s afflictions or death is diabolical,” she wrote.
This commentary follows Afolabi’s ongoing battle with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy tissues. In August, she revealed that she underwent multiple surgeries in 2026 due to complications from the condition.
Additionally, Afolabi previously disclosed in 2022 that her doctor advised her she has five more years to live. The actress is a mother of one and has been open about her health struggles, raising awareness about lupus and its effects.
