BREAKING: Phone-tapping: Court orders El-Rufai to defend himself

Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai is on trial for allegedly unlawfully intercepting the phone communications of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
On Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) had presented sufficient evidence to warrant that El-Rufai, the only defendant in the case, enter his defense.
El-Rufai’s attorney, Akinyemi Aremu, argued that the prosecution did not establish a case against his client after the DSS concluded its case with testimony from two witnesses. In contrast, the DSS lawyer, Oluwole Aladedoye, SAN, contended that the defense failed to address Exhibit “B,” which purportedly includes an admission from El-Rufai regarding the interception of Ribadu’s phone.
