Kano State Fire Service Recovers Body from Open Water
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Fire Service recovered the body of a 42-year-old man, identified as Sani Uba Kwaru, from an open water area in Dan Agundi.
The incident was reported on Monday, October 26, 2026. According to Kabiru Isah Jafar, the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, a distress call was received at approximately 1:00 p.m. from a local resident, Hamisu Muhammad, who reported that a young man had fallen into the water.
“In response to the distress call, our team was immediately mobilized to the scene,” Jafar said. Upon arrival, rescuers conducted a search and successfully recovered Kwaru’s body from the water. He was found unconscious at the time of recovery.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
