Salvation Church pastor arrested in Abuja over alleged interstate car theft

Pastor Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Vehicle Theft

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have taken Edwin Nwabueze, a pastor, into custody on suspicion of involvement in interstate vehicle theft.

Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, announced the arrest in a statement to journalists on Friday. The arrest followed the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of the FCT.

Nwabueze, originally from Oji River in Enugu State but currently residing in Benue State, identified himself as a pastor with the Salvation Power Bible Ministry located in the North Bank area of Benue State, according to Adeh.

Following extensive investigations, police operatives located and arrested Nwabueze at his residence. The suspect subsequently led officers to another site where they apprehended an accomplice, identified as Sadiq Jamiu.

Adeh noted that preliminary investigations have linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command for similar vehicle theft offenses. Authorities believe that he and Jamiu are part of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate that specializes in stealing and selling vehicles across several states.

Ongoing investigations aim to determine the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and to locate other members who remain at large. The suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges in court once investigations conclude.
