EPL: Awoniyi delighted with maiden goal for Coventry City

Coventry City secured a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the CBS Arena on Saturday afternoon, marking a significant win for the home side.

Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi contributed to the scoreline with a goal eight minutes before halftime. Awoniyi intercepted a pass from Sunderland’s Luke O’Nien and scored past goalkeeper Robin Roefs.

Following the match, the 29-year-old praised his teammates for their collective effort and discussed how the team’s counter-pressing strategy facilitated his scoring chance. “The most important thing is the three points. From the outset, the team played well together; the game plan worked,” Awoniyi commented in an interview with the Premier League website.
