Nathaniel Bassey becomes first African gospel artiste to surpass one billion YouTube views

Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has made history as the first African artist to reach one billion views on YouTube.

As of the most recent update from his channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, the celebrated music minister has accumulated a total of 1,014,544,577 views and garnered 5.24 million subscribers since the channel’s launch in 2011.

Bassey’s channel features a range of popular worship songs, including “Imela,” “You Are God,” and “Onise Iyanu.” Additionally, his widely followed online music and prayer initiative, known as Halleluyah Challenge, contributed significantly to his viewership. The landmark achievement was reached following the conclusion of the latest Halleluyah Challenge, which ran from October 5 to October 30, 2023. The Halleluyah Challenge was established in 2017 and has since gained substantial popularity among followers.
