Yobe State INEC Hosts Electoral Risk Management Workshop Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe State held a workshop on Electoral Risk Management (ERM) for key stakeholders on Monday, as part of its preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The event convened a diverse group of participants, including security personnel, representatives from the National Orientation Agency (NOA), media professionals, and Electoral Officers from all 17 local government areas in Yobe.
Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Ma’aji, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, emphasized the importance of the participants, describing them as crucial to the electoral process. He urged attendees to identify election-related risks specific to Yobe and to develop effective strategies for mitigating those risks ahead of the polls.
The workshop aimed to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of electoral risk management, highlight potential risks, enhance early warning and response systems, and foster collaboration among participants. Additionally, it sought to support evidence-based planning for credible elections.
A representative from the NOA reiterated the agency’s commitment to partnering with INEC and pledged ongoing support through public awareness initiatives, social mobilization efforts, and campaigns designed to discourage activities that could disrupt peaceful elections.
