Gunmen kill vigilante member in Plateau State

Armed assailants killed Divine Dung Davou, a member of a community vigilante group, during an attack in Rachas Village, Heipang District, located in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, as Davou was on duty monitoring the safety of the community. Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), confirmed Davou’s death and described him as an active member of the local security team.

In a statement, Tengwong expressed sorrow over the incident, noting that it has left the victim’s family and community residents in mourning. He also raised concerns about the ongoing vulnerability of rural areas to violent attacks. Tengwong called on the Plateau State Police Command and other security agencies to thoroughly investigate the attack and bring those responsible to justice.
