Man stabs neighbour to death over alleged roasted meat disagreement in Adamawa

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly fatally stabbing his neighbor during a dispute over roasted meat. The suspect, Ibrahim Augustine, is accused of attacking 21-year-old Haggai Markus on Wednesday evening in the Mararaban Vimtim area of Mubi North Local Government.

According to a statement from SP Suleiman Nguroji, the spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the two men engaged in a disagreement over meat taken from a butcher’s table. During the argument, Augustine allegedly used a knife to stab Markus in the chest.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Markus Gabo, the victim’s father, reported the incident to law enforcement. Officers from the Mubi North Division responded to the scene and discovered Markus lying in a pool of blood. They recovered a knife believed to be the weapon used in the assault.

Photos were taken at the scene, and Markus was transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Mubi, where a doctor pronounced him dead. The police stated that Augustine has been taken into custody, and the case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution.

In response to the incident, CP Kabir Hassan, the Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, expressed condolences to Markus’s family and assured the community that justice would be served. He also urged residents to resolve conflicts peacefully and to seek police assistance rather than resorting to violence.
