‘Tinubu you don old, leave Nigerians alone’ — Gehgeh tells President to quit in 2027

Financial expert and social media influencer Gehgeh has called on President Bola Tinubu to step down after his first term, asserting that the President has exhausted his capacity to lead effectively. Gehgeh expressed these views in a video where he criticized Tinubu’s leadership and expressed his opposition to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s return to power. Instead, he voiced his support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In his remarks, Gehgeh addressed Tinubu as a paternal figure but suggested that the President should take lessons from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who transitioned to farming after leaving office. “Tinubu, you’re like a father figure to me. Let me advise you as a father to a son. Sir, you can’t lead Nigeria; go and learn from Obasanjo,” he said. “He’s now a farmer. Leave Nigerians alone; you don old,” he added.

Gehgeh further criticized Tinubu’s leadership, alleging that the President was frequently absent during critical times when Nigerians faced significant struggles. He portrayed Tinubu as a leader who was present only for photo opportunities and video appearances, while essential national issues went unattended. “The president we have in Nigeria is a president of ‘let me see what I can do,’” Gehgeh stated.

He insisted that Tinubu should not seek a second term, saying, “Tinubu, you rule for four years; there’s nothing more you can give. Leave there.” Regarding Atiku, Gehgeh emphasized that Nigerians had previously experienced his leadership during his tenure as vice president under Obasanjo. “We don test Atiku before; he be vice president. We don’t want again; there’s nothing to rule again,” he remarked.

While he described Obi as an “online president,” Gehgeh indicated he would still prefer to support Obi over either Tinubu or Atiku. “Peter Obi, you be online president and an online president cannot win in Nigeria, but I would rather vote for an online president than a ‘settings’ president,” he said.

Gehgeh encouraged Nigerians to give Obi the chance to lead, expressing a dramatic personal stake in the outcome. He stated, “Obi come and rule Nigeria, it is your turn to rule, and this is your last chance. If Obi no win, nothing concern me with Nigeria again. I’m using this opportunity to call on travel agents ahead; prepare my visa if Obi no win, I’m going to Ghana.”
