Ogun Police Investigate Alleged Sexual Assault of TikTok User

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a Nigerian TikTok user known as Mirabel. The allegation was brought to public attention in a viral video posted by the content creator, who goes by the username @mirab351, on Sunday, February 15.

The incident has prompted widespread discussion on social media, particularly under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen. In response to the matter, the Lagos State Domestic Violence Agency (DSVA) has referred the case to the Ogun State authorities for further investigation.

On Wednesday, Ogun Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the investigation’s initiation. He stated that the Commissioner of Police had instructed the Divisional Police Officer of the Ibafo Division to establish immediate contact with the victim.

Mirabel reported the incident to the Ibafo Police Station, where initial information was collected. Investigators later determined that the alleged assault occurred within the jurisdiction of Ogijo. Following the report, she was taken to a local hospital for assessment and care.

Babaseyi noted that after receiving preliminary treatment, Mirabel was transferred to the Ogijo Police Station for additional documentation and to continue the investigation. He also indicated that given her vulnerable state, she was referred for more extensive medical care to support her rehabilitation and the ongoing inquiry.

The Ogun State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the victim’s safety and well-being while implementing rigorous measures to hold those responsible accountable.
