Lagos Police respond to Papaya Ex’ assault allegation

Lagos Police Respond to Assault Allegations by Influencer Papaya Ex
The Lagos State Police Command has addressed allegations of assault made by Nigerian content creator and influencer Papaya Ex.
According to a report by DAILY POST, the incident reportedly took place on Friday night as Papaya Ex was returning from a shoot. During a TikTok live session, she appeared with visible injuries, including a bleeding face. Papaya Ex alleged that police officers hit her with a gun, assaulted her, and also assaulted her driver.
Although the alleged assault was not captured on video, the injuries on her face were apparent.
In response to the claims, Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin provided the police narrative through social media. He stated that shortly before 2 a.m., officers on routine patrol stopped a vehicle carrying three men and two women for a routine check. Hundeyin noted that Papaya Ex refused to cooperate, reportedly saying, “You cannot search my car. Don’t you know Papaya? Even your bosses know me.”
He further explained that she chose to drive to the police station, leading the patrol vehicle in a chase. “Her vehicle was ahead while the patrol vehicle followed behind. She instructed her driver to speed off, leaving the patrol vehicle far behind. To intercept them, the police team ahead was radioed,” Hundeyin stated.
He concluded with, “@LagosPoliceNG will take it from here.”
