NDLEA arrests woman with fake pregnancy, seizes 3,200 Tramadol capsules

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Intercepts Suspected Drug Traffickers at Seme Border
Seme Border, Nigeria — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended two individuals allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal substances, including cocaine and opioids, by concealing them on their bodies and within a fabricated pregnancy.
One of the suspects, identified as 35-year-old Rabi Muhammad, a businesswoman from Kano, was taken into custody on February 16, 2026. She was attempting to cross into Cotonou, Benin Republic, when NDLEA officers noticed her unusually large abdomen while she was waiting to depart.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Muhammad was not pregnant. Instead, she had secured a pink-colored calabash to her stomach to mimic a baby bump. A video shared on social media by Sadiq Muhammad, spokesperson for the NDLEA’s Seme Command, depicted the search process and the removal of the fake pregnancy.
Inside the container, officials found 3,200 capsules of tramadol, which Muhammad allegedly intended to sell in Cotonou.
This arrest is part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking across Nigeria’s borders and airports.
