ABUJA — In the recent elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed victory in five out of six Area Councils. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to secure a win in Gwagwalada, marking a notable outcome for both parties.

Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the APC National Chairman, characterized the results as a clear endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s reform initiatives. In a statement released Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described the elections as a demonstration of public confidence in the APC’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

“The results underscore that Nigerians from diverse backgrounds support President Tinubu’s ambitious reform agenda,” Yilwatda said, emphasizing the party’s grassroots strength and unity.

The APC secured chairmanship positions in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Kuje, Abaji, Bwari, and Kwali. Meanwhile, the PDP candidate won in Gwagwalada. Yilwatda lauded these victories as a testament to the APC’s connection with the electorate and the robustness of democracy.

Furthermore, the APC celebrated the successful candidacies of four State House of Assembly candidates in Kano and Rivers States, attributing these wins to effective party organization and public trust in APC leadership. Yilwatda expressed gratitude to party stalwarts and acknowledged the professionalism of security agencies and election officials throughout the electoral process.

In specific results from the Kuje Area Council, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Danjuma Samuel Shekolo of the APC as the winner, garnering 17,269 votes. He defeated the PDP’s Danlami Zakoyi, who received 15,824 votes. Other parties’ tallies included 7,016 votes for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and smaller counts for various other parties.

Shekolo expressed his appreciation for INEC’s management of the election, thanking his supporters and committing to delivering the benefits of democracy to the Kuje constituency.

“The message from the people is clear: they want results, accountability, and continued reforms aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda. The APC will not disappoint,” Yilwatda stated.

The outcomes of the recent elections reflect the APC’s strong presence in the FCT, while the PDP’s single victory in Gwagwalada illustrates the competitive landscape of local governance in the nation’s capital.
