‎Only son killed, teenager injured as truck, car crash into motorcycles in Abia community

Fatal Accident Claims Life of Young Motorcyclist in Abia State

ISIALA NGWA, Abia State — A young man in his late 20s died in a road accident on Sunday morning in the Ndiolumbe autonomous community. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Ururuka Road when a speeding Toyota Camry collided with the victim’s motorcycle.

Witnesses reported that the force of the impact threw the motorcyclist from his bike, resulting in instant death. A shop located near the accident site was also damaged by the vehicle.

An eyewitness, who identified the Camry driver only by the nickname “Star Boy,” claimed the driver had previously been involved in several accidents and had purchased the vehicle just one day before the crash. The victim, the only son of his parents, was on his way to collect payment for a job when the accident occurred.

Local police from the Omobo Police Division responded to the scene and took the driver into custody to protect him from an angry crowd that gathered following the incident.

In a separate incident in the same community, a 15-year-old girl named Amarachi Chidiebere sustained abdominal injuries after a Tipper Truck collided with the motorcycle she was riding. The accident occurred at the Ahia Orie market when the Tipper driver swerved to avoid hitting an elderly woman crossing the road.

Chidiebere has undergone successful surgery at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba and is now recovering in the hospital.

Attempts to reach Ngozi Ezeoma, the Abia State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), for comment were unsuccessful as of Sunday evening.
