Police arrest kidnap kingpin, recover firearms in Plateau

Police Capture Notorious Kidnapper in Plateau State

The Plateau State Police Command has apprehended Babangida Buba, also known as Babawo, a well-known kidnap kingpin who had been evading law enforcement.

Buba was taken into custody by members of the Investigation and Response Team (IRT) associated with the Command. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement in kidnappings and disclosed that he sold an operational AK-47 rifle to Muhammadu Isiyaku, commonly referred to as Mamman, from Pankshin Local Government Area.

Isiyaku has also been arrested, and law enforcement officials recovered numerous firearms and ammunition during the operation.

Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah cautioned criminal elements against perpetuating violence, asserting that the Command is equipped and prepared to respond decisively. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reminding citizens of the importance of community involvement: “See something, say something.”

The arrested suspects, along with others already facing charges, will be prosecuted according to the law.
