Oyo State Fire Service Recovers Body from Abandoned Well in Ibadan
The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered the body of a 27-year-old man from a well in the Laogun area of Ibadan. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at a site located at 5, Binukonu Olota.
According to a statement from Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Fire Service, the victim died after inhaling ammonia gas while attempting to clean debris from the abandoned well.
Akinwande reported that responders arrived promptly with the necessary rescue equipment and successfully retrieved the body. The remains were subsequently turned over to officers from the Gbagi Police Divisional Headquarters in Ibadan.
The incident highlights the dangers associated with attempting to service abandoned structures without adequate safety precautions.
