Father of Former Deputy Governor Abducted in Ebonyi State
Ikwo, Ebonyi State — Chief Francis Igwe, father of former Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe, was abducted by armed men on Sunday morning in the Ndufu-Alike community of Ikwo Local Government Area.
According to local sources, Chief Igwe was en route to church when assailants on motorcycles intercepted his vehicle. The gunmen allegedly forced him out of the car and fled the scene with him to an undisclosed location.
The incident has raised alarm among residents, who are increasingly concerned about the rise in insecurity within the area.
Sunday Nwankwo, Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, confirmed the abduction and stated that local authorities are working with security agencies to obtain information and ensure Chief Igwe’s safe return.
Attempts to contact Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer SP Joshua Ukandu for official confirmation were unsuccessful, as messages and calls went unanswered at the time of this report.
