Former Senator Anosike Elected Chairman of Anambra APC
Former Senator for the Anambra North District, Chief Emmanuel Obiajulu Anosike, has been elected as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State. His election took place on Tuesday and was achieved through a consensus decision.
Alongside Anosike, Chief J.C. Okeke has been appointed as Vice Chairman, and Chief Obi Okpala serves as Secretary.
The election results were announced by Rear Admiral William Kayode (rtd), Chairman of the Anambra Congress Committee and Returning Officer. He confirmed that the process adhered to Articles 14 and 20 of the APC Constitution, which allows for consensus-based elections for party officials.
“I hereby affirm that the Congress was free, fair, and credible. Sen. Emmanuel Anosike and other members of his Executive Committee are duly elected,” Kayode stated.
Senator Uche Ekwunife, who chairs the Congress Harmonization Committee and is also the Director-General of the South East Governors Forum, highlighted the objective of the election. She emphasized the necessity of selecting competent party executives to lead the APC to future victories, noting that stakeholders at the ward and local government levels played a significant role in the selection process.
The meeting also involved the dissolution of the previous executive led by Chief Basil Ejidike, following a motion submitted by Chief Olisa Metuh and seconded by Dr. Onuora Okonkwo, which facilitated the transition to new leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Anosike referred to his election as a call to serve and committed to inclusivity within the party. He remarked, “We shall ensure all members are carried along. This is a new dawn for the party in the state. We also pledge to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections,” acknowledging the support of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the party’s management in the South East.
Former Chairman Ejidike urged party members to rally behind the new executive, expressing confidence that the APC would continue to flourish.
