‘It’s a scam’ – Atiku’s aide denies video of ex-VP promising give away

AI-Generated Video Promising Giveaway Called a Scam by Atiku Abubakar’s Aide

Paul Ibe, media aide to Atiku Abubakar, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice President of Nigeria, has labeled an artificial intelligence-generated video purportedly featuring Abubakar as a scam.

In the video, audio attributes to Abubakar suggest he promises a significant giveaway to Nigerians, stating, “I will be giving massive giveaways this month and selecting people at random as a way of showing support to every average Nigerian out there, as a way of supporting those who believe in a better tomorrow. Simply drop your details and sign up.”

However, Ibe quickly distanced Abubakar from the video and the associated giveaway scheme. He emphasized on his Facebook page that Abubakar remains committed to working with reputable individuals who share his vision for Nigeria.

“His Excellency Atiku Abubakar believes in a better Nigeria,” Ibe wrote. “To this end, he is working with others who are dedicated to the Nigeria of our dreams. We wish to alert Nigerians that this scheme is a scam.”

Ibe warned the public to be cautious, stating, “Don’t fall for it. Their plan is to extort your hard-earned money and compromise your data. Kindly ignore, please.”
