Kano Police Investigate Death of NSCDC Officer Following Attack
The Kano State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, who was fatally attacked by suspected assailants during an empowerment program in the Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed details of the incident in a statement released on Saturday. According to Kiyawa, the attack occurred on March 13, 2026, as the civil defence officer participated in the community event.
“The Kano State Police Command received a report concerning the death of a Civil Defence officer during an attack by hoodlums at an empowerment program held in Tudun Wada LGA on March 13, 2026,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, collaborating with other security agencies. “The Commissioner has launched a thorough and discreet investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators,” Kiyawa said.
The police spokesperson emphasized the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victim. “The Commissioner has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing those responsible to justice,” he added.
The injured officer was transported to Tudun Wada General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His remains have since been moved to the morgue at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
The Kano State Police Command extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and the NSCDC. “The Command expresses its sympathies to the family and the Civil Defence Corps,” the statement noted.
Authorities also urged the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
