Anambra Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo Marks End of First Term with Interdenominational Service

Awka, Nigeria — Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo held an interdenominational service on Sunday to commemorate the conclusion of his first term in office. The event took place just days before his scheduled swearing-in for a second term on Tuesday, March 17, following his re-election in the November 8 gubernatorial election.

The service drew clergy from various denominations nationwide, including Soludo’s predecessor, Dr. Chris Ngige.

In his address, Soludo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Anambra, attributing his achievements to divine guidance. He emphasized his commitment to fostering development throughout the state, inviting citizens to unite with him as he embarks on his second term.

“I have always prayed to God to bless me with life and health, so I can serve my state,” he said. “This gathering is a moment of gratitude for your support during my first term. I assure you that what lies ahead in terms of development is unprecedented.”

Soludo urged attendance at his upcoming swearing-in ceremony, emphasizing a vision of an Anambra that promotes hard work and enterprise, free from the influence of illicit activities.

Earlier in the service, the Archbishop of the Anglican Communion, Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Alexander Ibezim, addressed the congregation on the characteristics of effective leadership. He underscored the importance of compassion and active listening in governance, acknowledging the challenges that come with the role.

“Being a governor, especially in a state like Anambra, is not without its difficulties,” Ibezim remarked. “Governor Soludo undoubtedly faces his own challenges.”

The service concluded with a collective spirit of hope for the future as Soludo prepares to take office for another term.
