Police arrest two burglary suspects, recover household items in Yobe

Two Arrested in Damaturu Burglary Case
DUMATURU, Yobe State — The Yobe State Police Command has taken two men into custody in connection with a burglary that occurred at the Red Bricks Housing Estate, located in the state capital.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the arrests were made on August 7 by officers from B Division in Damaturu. This followed a report filed by a resident regarding the theft.
Abdulkarim stated that an intelligence-driven investigation was initiated after the incident was reported. The investigation led to the identification and apprehension of the suspects, who have been named as 27-year-old Abubakar Abdullahi and 23-year-old Ayuba. Both individuals reside at the same address in Damaturu.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the burglary. Law enforcement recovered several items, including a 50-inch Samsung Galaxy Smart TV, three sets of bedsheets, and a large carpet. These items have been documented and placed in the exhibit room for safekeeping, with the complainant confirming ownership.
The suspects remain in custody as the police continue their investigation to determine if additional accomplices were involved in the crime. Authorities have urged community members to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement or security agencies, emphasizing the importance of timely information for public safety.
