Butcher Arrested After Stabbing Customer in Dispute Over Meat Price
Umuahia, Abia State — The Abia State Police Command reported the arrest of a butcher on charges of stabbing a customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over meat pricing.
The incident took place at Orie Ugba Market on March 14, 2026. According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, officers from the Central Police Station promptly responded to the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Chinaka confirmed that the suspect is in police custody as authorities continue their investigation. She indicated that the suspect will face charges in court once the inquiry is completed.
