Babatunde Gbadamosi Accepts Role as Deputy Governorship Candidate for ADC
Babatunde Gbadamosi, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has explained his acceptance of the role alongside Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming 2027 Lagos State elections.
Initially hesitant about the proposition, Gbadamosi reconsidered after a conversation with Rhodes-Vivour, who emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving their political goals.
“I was approached. His Excellency, Chief Bayo Rotimi reached out to me and said, ‘Look, we need to do this together. I can’t do it alone. I need every hand on deck, and yours, in my opinion, would make a big difference,’” Gbadamosi said.
After reflecting on the offer, Gbadamosi recognized the opportunity to advocate for a political system that elevates young leaders within Nigeria’s governance. He noted that Nigeria has historically experienced periods of growth when young individuals have been in leadership roles.
“Every time we’ve had a growth spurt in Nigeria, it’s been because young people have been at the helm at that time,” he remarked.
Gbadamosi’s decision to join the gubernatorial race is motivated by his desire to foster a new generation of leaders and to challenge the current political class to empower younger Nigerians in shaping the nation’s future.
