Adamawa: Police go after vehicles with unregistered, concealed number plates

Adamawa Police Launch Operation Against Unregistered Vehicles

YOLA, Adamawa State — The Adamawa State Police Command has initiated a statewide operation targeting vehicles lacking registration number plates, as well as those displaying concealed, altered, or defaced plates.

The police action follows a directive from the Inspector General of Police, aimed at enhancing security and reducing crimes associated with improperly identified vehicles, according to police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje.

To execute this initiative, Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan has formed a special task force led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Abubakar Haruna, who oversees Operations. This team is charged with monitoring compliance and enforcing the directive across the state.

Authorities have expressed concern over a rising number of unregistered vehicles, which they say are frequently used by criminal elements to avoid detection while committing offenses.

The task force is authorized to stop and inspect vehicles that lack valid registration plates or show signs of tampering. Vehicles found in violation may be impounded and subjected to legal action in accordance with existing laws.

The police command urges all motorists and vehicle owners to adhere to registration requirements and traffic regulations, emphasizing that the enforcement efforts will be implemented rigorously.
