Chaos Erupts at Oyo State APC Secretariat in Ibadan
IBADAN—Trouble ensued Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan, as frustrated party members chased away several aspirants and executives.
Sources indicate the unrest stemmed from dissatisfaction among certain APC members regarding recent events within the party. Their protest escalated, prompting a significant response from security agencies, which intervened to restore order.
Olawale Sadare, the party’s Publicity Secretary, condemned the incident in a statement released on Thursday. He reported that the individuals involved were armed with dangerous weapons.
“The hoodlums who reportedly unleashed terror on members of the state executive committee, staff, and other attendees at the secretariat were heavily armed and significantly outnumbered,” Sadare said.
The turmoil reportedly lasted two hours, resulting in damage to vehicles and the building itself. Windshields, tires, office windows, and doors were among the items vandalized during the confrontation.
