Airstrikes kill several civilians in Niger village

Civilians Reported Killed in Airstrike on Niger State Village
GURADNAYI, Niger State — Several civilians were reportedly killed early Sunday morning when a military airstrike struck the village of Guradnayi, located near Kusasu in the Shiroro Local Government Area.
The incident is the latest in a series of unintended airstrikes that have impacted rural communities in conflict-affected regions of Nigeria. According to reports from local residents, the airstrike occurred around 5 a.m. after armed terrorists were observed moving through the area on motorcycles.
Auta Awododo, a resident of Kusasu, stated that at least 12 individuals died in the home of one of his relatives in Guradnayi. “It happened around 5 a.m.,” he said. Awododo noted that one of the victims was his cousin’s son. “Twelve people were killed in his house. The rest were Kusasu people who were fleeing from the terrorists,” he added.
Witnesses claim that military aircraft were pursuing the terrorists when the bombs were deployed. “The military first dropped a bomb near the river in Kusasu,” one resident reported. “The second bomb was dropped at Guradnayi.”
As of now, the Nigerian Air Force has not issued an official statement regarding the airstrike or the casualties.
