Abuja woman remanded for allegedly pouring boiling water on neighbour


The Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Abuja has arrested a woman for allegedly pouring boiling water on her neighbor during a dispute over the use of a shared compound.

The incident occurred on September 4, 2026, in the Lugbe area, as detailed in a statement released by police spokesperson Superintendent Josephine Adeh on Wednesday, September 9.

According to the police report, the altercation began when the victim moved a pot containing boiling water to an area of the compound that the suspect had claimed. In response, the suspect is accused of picking up the pot and pouring the scalding water onto the victim’s back, resulting in severe burns.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

Following the incident, the suspect was arraigned in court and has been remanded in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 16, 2026, when further proceedings will take place.
