Apata urges Ekiti lawyers to remain proactive, prioritize rest

Ekiti Attorney-General Encourages Lawyers to Balance Work and Rest

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria – Dayo Apata, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ekiti State, has urged local lawyers to maintain a proactive approach to their professional responsibilities while also prioritizing rest and relaxation.

Apata made these remarks during a luncheon held to commemorate the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC) on Thursday. The event, hosted in Ado-Ekiti, was designed to foster camaraderie among the state’s legal professionals.

“This annual gathering serves as an opportunity for attorneys to celebrate, interact, and connect with one another,” said Apata. He emphasized the importance of taking breaks from demanding schedules, noting that such downtime can enhance productivity and effectiveness in their legal work.

The initiative aims to allow lawyers who could not attend the national conference to experience its benefits and insights.

Apata acknowledged the contributions of former Attorneys-General and the Ministry of Justice in establishing this tradition, pledging to continue and enhance the event’s legacy.

In his address, Gbemiga Adaramola, the Acting Permanent Secretary and Solicitor-General of the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, praised Apata for maintaining the annual event. He credited the recent growth of the gathering to the Attorney-General’s leadership and inclusive approach.

Adaramola highlighted that many lawyers in the state lack opportunities to attend the national conference, which underscores the significance of providing a local platform for sharing knowledge and experiences.

He expressed gratitude to Apata for fostering professional development within the Ministry of Justice, noting the positive impact of his leadership on staff learning and morale.

Ayo Daramola, Chairman of the NBA Ikere-Ekiti Branch, commended Apata for his guiding and supportive role towards lawyers statewide. He wished attendees safe travels as they concluded the event.

Among those in attendance were former Attorney-General Kolapo Kolade, SAN, Special Adviser on Legal Matters Niyi Idowu, directors from the Ministry of Justice, and senior legal practitioners from the region.
