Nigerian Troops Intercept Suspected Arms Traffickers in Kaduna
ZANGON KATAF, Kaduna State — Troops from Sector 7 of the Nigerian Army intercepted suspected arms traffickers on Monday, recovering seven illegal firearms believed to be intended for distribution to bandits.
The details of the operation were reported by security expert Zagazola Makama. He stated that the interception took place at the Samaru checkpoint in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area around 9:40 a.m.
Makama noted that the operation was based on credible intelligence concerning the transportation of illegal weapons from Jos, Plateau State, to Niger State. Troops were informed that the suspected traffickers were using an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz vehicle to transport the firearms.
Acting on the intelligence, security personnel were able to identify, track, and intercept the vehicle at the checkpoint.
